Our Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct

In Skanska, we aspire to operate with a high level of ethics in line with our four values. Setting the direction needed to achieve this are Skanska’s Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct.

High level of ethics

First of all, our Code of Conduct is based on Skanska's values, and those values are more than mere words – they are how we strive to live every day. They set the expectation for conducting our business in responsible and sustainable ways, enabling us to be a trusted partner to our customers.

The Code of Conduct is a guide designed to help all Skanska employees to connect with our values and provide expectations for our everyday behavior, but also to find direction on how to conduct ourselves when interacting with each other, with customers or with the communities in which we operate. It is the place to start when we face an ethical dilemma, and it provides information on whom to contact when we have questions or concerns.

Also, the Code of Conduct is supplemented by the Supplier Code of Conduct, which should be used in our relationships and contracts with suppliers in order to make it clear and focused what we expect from them.

This latter extends beyond Skanska, as external people and companies are essential to the work we do. Subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, intermediaries and agents must follow the Supplier Code of Conduct – comprising the relevant portions of our Code of Conduct - in their dealings with us.

We launched our latest Code of Conduct (PDF) on September 1, 2016. It is supplemented by our Supplier Code of Conduct (PDF).

Skanska's Code of Conduct is also available as a web application, please visit www.skanska.com/codeofconduct.

Straightforward guidance

To provide straightforward guidance, Skanska's Code of Conduct is structured into three sections:

  • Our commitment at our workplace
About managing Skanska's assets responsibly and creating a fair, healthy, safe and inclusive workplace where we all can develop our professional skills, grow as individuals and feel welcome.
  • Our commitment in the market place
Relationships are founded on respect and mutual benefit, this is why we strive to understand and anticipate the needs of our customers, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders, why we conduct ourselves with integrity, and why we act responsibly and fairly, why we strive to do our best when it comes to delivering on quality, on time and on budget, and to do better than expected.
  • Our commitment to society
We are an integral part of society, why we strive to find new means of minimizing our environmental footprint, promote fair competition, and improve the communities in which we live and work.

Reporting concerns

Each Skanska business unit has an Ethics Committee that investigates all reports. One way to make reports is through our Code of Conduct Hotline. This is accessible to both employees and outside parties, including customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
