  • I-264 and Route 13 Interchange

Skanska was awarded two contracts, totaling $57 million, to widen Interstate 264 and build an interchange at State Route 13 in Virginia Beach, Va.

The project included the widening and rehabilitation of eight bridges and about 15 lane miles of roadway.

To maintain safe working conditions, Skanska strictly enforced existing traffic safety measures and set additional safety standards for construction access and travel along the interstate.

Skanska completed the project ahead of schedule, while reporting to the Virginia Department of Transportation and the city of Norfolk.

The scope of work on the project included:
· demolition and replacement of the heavily traveled Military Highway Bridges over I-264, while maintaining three lanes of traffic in each direction on I-264 and two lanes in each direction on Military Highway
· two additional parallel bridges over Curlew Drive and the Norfolk Southern Railroad
· realignment of I-264 and five miles of High Occupancy Vehicle lanes
