The new three-story academic building for this distinguished Historically Black University houses the biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer science departments. Within its 113,000-SF, the facility holds seven computer labs, eight chemistry labs, five physics labs, ten biology labs, 10 high-tech classrooms and two 100-seat lecture halls with video conferencing for distance learning. Science faculty administrative suites, offices, conference rooms, science library and an atrium with faculty and student lounges complete the program.

Support systems include a combination of basement mechanical rooms, rooftop ventilation and laboratory exhaust equipment hidden by a decorative perforated metal panel screen, and backup provided by underground utility distribution from the university’s central utility plant.

According to the Lincoln University, the building enhances its new academic initiatives, which include increasing the number of minority students pursuing advanced degrees in the sciences, thereby significantly growing the number of underrepresented researchers.
