Skanska was awarded a $68 million contract to build Harvard University’s Biology Research Infrastructure facility.

The BRI facility is a two-level, underground laboratory located below the courtyard of the Biological Laboratories.

The 75,000 square foot facility replaced existing Bio Labs.

The BRI was designed as state-of-the-art laboratory space for research on mice. Harvard’s Molecular and Cellular Biology faculty uses the facility for research to advance the understanding of how animals develop, function and combat disease. Much of this work involves genetic studies, wherein the health or behavior of animals is assessed in the presence or absence of different genes.

These studies provide a foundation for improving the health and well being of humans and other animals.
