World class environment and facilities for healthcare
Barts and The London new hospitals program, is a major advance in the level of partnership we can deliver and is one of Skanska's largest ever developments, with the construction value alone in excess of £1 billion.
The historic St Bartholomew's Hospital site has been the location of a hospital for some 900 years and has archaeological significance, as well as being the centre of a conservation area. It has been transformed into a state-of-the-art cancer and cardiac centre.
The Royal London Hospital, located in the culturally diverse East End of London, provides a specialist women and children's centre and facilities which continue the hospital's leadership in accident and emergency treatment.
Skanska ID and our investment partners are shareholders in the concession company, Capital Hospitals, which deliver a unique range of services. In addition to design, construction and hard FM, clinical support services, such as cleaning, catering and laundry, are supplied by Carillion, medical equipment by Siemens and sterile services by Synergy.
The first phase of the new Barts Hospital was handed over in March 2010. The main handover at The London took place beginning of 2012, and both projects will conclude in 2016.
