Skanska provided construction management services on the 60 000-SF historic rehabilitation of a 1904 commercial office building into a boutique hotel with more than 200 guestrooms. The project included seismic structural upgrades and a new story inserted within the ground level floor resulting in a nine-story hotel. Additionally the hotel includes ground level retail. To overcome a tight schedule for such a large renovation Skanska proactively worked with the structural engineer to create a unique phasing plan that allowed work to begin concurrently in both the lower levels and upper levels of the building.
