Point of view of both business divisions that form Skanska Romania

Press release 6/20/2023 10:00 AM CET

As a result of the article published on Profit.ro on June 19, 2023, in which the statement of the Skanska representative is incorrectly linked to the cancellation of the Zonal Urban Plan (PUZ), the company makes the following clarifications.

Miroslav Vycital, Branch Director Romania and Hungary at Skanska Central Europe & Aurelia Luca EVP Operations Hungary and Romania, Skanska Commercial Development Business Unit in CEE

From an organizational point of view, Skanska's operations in Romania are divided into two divisions with different management teams:

The Commercial Development Division, which is responsible for the development and management of office buildings, including the acquisition of the land for the project, the development of the concept and design, the leasing, and subsequent sale of the buildings, led by Aurelia Luca, Executive Vice President Operations Hungary and Romania, Skanska Commercial Development Business Unit in CEE

The Construction Division, which is responsible for the actual construction of the local projects, is led by Miroslav Vycital, Branch Director Romania and Hungary at Skanska Construction Europe.

“The restructuring of Skanska's Construction Branch in Romania (formed mainly by engineers) is in no way related to the cancellation of the Zonal Urban Plan (PUZ), as inaccurately implied by a series of articles in the media in recent hours. The restructuring process is driven by an internal strategic decision that comes in the current market context.” - Miroslav Vycital, Branch Director Romania and Hungary at Skanska Central Europe.

"The Commercial Development Division of Skanska currently holds both available land and the necessary construction permits to develop new projects. In an unpredictable global context, we continuously adapt our project launch decisions and constantly evaluate risks. At the same time, we remain an open dialogue partner with all our stakeholders and stay connected to new opportunities.

We have a very sustainable business model; therefore, alongside preparing projects in the pipeline, we are focusing on the projects in our portfolio today – the Equilibrium 1 and Equilibrium 2 office buildings." – Aurelia Luca Executive Vice President Operations Hungary and Romania, Skanska Commercial Development Business Unit in CEE
